Water Treatment Plant Manager

This role will lead the operational performance of multiple water treatment plants, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of high-quality drinking water while maintaining compliance with regulatory and client requirements.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, you will provide technical leadership, oversee treatment plant operations, and manage operational teams to drive performance, reliability, and continuous improvement across the network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of multiple water treatment plants.

  • Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting to optimise treatment processes and plant performance.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, legislative and drinking water quality requirements.

  • Manage and support treatment plant operators and field teams.

  • Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure efficient plant operation and preventative maintenance programs.

  • Monitor operational data, analyse plant performance, and provide reports and insights to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Maintain and improve standard operating procedures and operational documentation.

  • Manage subcontractors and ensure works meet required standards.

  • Participate in an out-of-hours Duty Manager roster providing operational support when required.


About You

You are an experienced operations leader with strong technical knowledge of water treatment processes and a passion for delivering safe and reliable water services.

You will bring:

  • 5+ years’ experience in water treatment plant operations or a similar environment

  • Leadership experience managing operational teams

  • Strong understanding of treatment processes, performance optimisation and plant operations

  • Experience working with SCADA systems and operational data

  • Demonstrated capability in risk management, compliance and continuous improvement

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Environmental Science, or equivalent industry experience

  • A current Australian driver’s licence
