Bring financial clarity to a capital investment portfolio.
Help project teams challenge forecasts and make informed funding decisions.
Build your career in energy — previous sector experience isn’t required.

About People8
People8 is a people strategy consultancy helping construction, infrastructure and trades businesses attract, hire and retain the right people. We combine recruitment expertise, hiring technology and practical people strategies to build stronger teams and support long-term growth.

About the Company
Our client is an electricity distribution business delivering essential services to communities across NSW and supporting the transition to a cleaner, smarter energy system.

Working within its Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO), you’ll provide reliable financial information across projects and programs. Your work will help leaders understand portfolio performance, assess investment decisions and maintain financial governance.

You’ll consolidate budgets, actuals and forecasts, investigate variances, validate investment cases and oversee funding releases and contingency drawdowns. You’ll also support benefits validation, regulatory submissions and external audits.

This role suits someone who takes ownership, constructively challenges assumptions and works closely with project managers, engineers and finance colleagues. Supporting teammates when deadlines tighten or priorities change is an important part of the position.

Requirements

  • Relevant financial control, accounting or FP&A experience within a large, capital-intensive organisation, ideally more than four years.

  • Capability in portfolio budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis, including challenging cost assumptions and helping teams address financial risks.

  • Strong project accounting knowledge, including Earned Value Management (EVM), Work in Progress (WIP), capitalisation principles and CAPEX/OPEX classification.

  • Experience supporting investment governance, funding controls, contingency management and financial assurance, with accurate records for audit and regulatory reporting.

  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills, with experience reconciling project and corporate finance data. Familiarity with SAP, WBS/CBS structures, Copperleaf, OneStream or PPM (TPG) is desirable.

  • The ability to explain financial information clearly, maintain constructive stakeholder relationships and support colleagues across changing team priorities.

  • Ideally, a degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or a related discipline; CPA, CA, ACCA or an equivalent professional accounting qualification is preferred.

What’s on Offer

  • Remuneration up to $198,000.

  • A full-time opportunity within an essential services business.

  • Portfolio-wide exposure to capital investment and financial decision-making.

  • The opportunity to move into energy using your existing finance experience.

  • Close collaboration with project managers, engineers, finance specialists and EPMO colleagues.

  • Work supporting electricity infrastructure and the transition to a cleaner energy future.
